FlashTagMcr's Smut Night for Didsbury Art Festival

The #FlashTag Writers are Sarah-Clare Conlon, Fat Roland, Dave Hartley, Tom Mason and Benjamin Judge. Apparently, Clare Conlon was reading some very smutty books and at that time came up with the anthology idea for Quickies : Short Stories for Adults.

The anthology contains stories from some of Flashtag's favourite writers, stories from the editors themselves, and stories by writers through an open submission process. I was very pleased and privileged to have my 400 word flash fiction piece accepted through the open submissions.

Last night 'Quickies' was unveiled at the Northern Lawn Tennis Club on Palatine Road in Didsbury where I had the pleasure of reading my flash fiction submission 'Streetlamp of desire' for the anthology. I also got to listen to the wordplay of many a great writer, some of which are listed here.

I took to the mic at about 10.10pm as a reading newbie, and I have to say the audience were a gem. All those pre-reading jitters melted away once I got up to read (having drank a couple of lagers beforehand).

If you are writing and thinking about doing a spoken word event, my advice is do it! It's a great confidence boost and adds another dimension to your writing, especially if it's a tough/embarrassing theme like Smut night was. If you can read this stuff out loud, you can read anything. Plus, it's good to do something that scares you once in a while. Did I mention it was great fun? Make no mistake, all the stories are fantastically written and were well delivered last night, but you can only find out the former for yourself if you get hold of a copy of 'Quickies'.

Where can I buy this smutty material you say?

You can purchase your very own copy of Quickies here. It's only a fiver. It's also available on Kindle and at Blackwell's in Manchester. Smut was never so available, cheap and dirty!
